Scent Notes

Fougère is Martin de Candre's signature fragrance, opening with fresh lavandin, thyme, and bergamot before revealing a heart of geranium and patchouli. Oakmoss and warm amber create a refined woody base, resulting in a classic green barbershop scent that is fresh, elegant, and timeless.

A Word from the Manufacturer

Martin de Candre produces its shaving soaps in France using traditional hot-process saponification with exclusively vegetable oils. Each batch is slowly dried for several months to concentrate the soap, refine the fragrance, and naturally preserve its exceptional lathering performance without added preservatives. The concentrated formula requires very little product to create a dense, creamy lather for an outstanding shave.

Directions for Use

Soak your shaving brush in warm water and gently shake out excess water. Swirl the brush over the soap using light circular motions until the brush is well loaded. Build the lather in a shaving bowl or directly on the face, gradually adding water until the desired consistency is achieved. Rinse the soap after use and allow it to dry with the lid off before closing.

Ingredients

Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aqua (Water), Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Parfum (Fragrance), Citronellol, Evernia Furfuracea Extract, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.

Performance Profile

Martin de Candre Fougère produces an exceptionally dense, creamy lather with outstanding slickness, cushion, and razor glide. Its concentrated vegetable-based formula loads quickly, uses very little soap per shave, and can provide well over a year of daily use from a single 200g jar while leaving the skin feeling smooth and comfortable.

Pro Tip

Start with a lightly damp shaving brush and add water slowly while building the lather. Martin de Candre's concentrated formula performs best when hydrated gradually, producing an incredibly slick, glossy lather with minimal product.

Mia K. ★★★★★

The lather is dense and slick in a way that makes my razor glide—that oakmoss-and-amber base really comes through after the initial lavender fades. It’s a pricey puck, but it’ll last months, so I’m calling it a fair trade.

Leo D. ★★★★★

The lather this stuff builds is almost criminal for a soap—thick, slick, and cushioning enough to make a dull blade feel dangerous. That dry-down of oakmoss and warm amber lingers for hours, which is rare for a fougère. One pass and I’m still catching whiffs of the thyme and bergamot hours later.

Timothy ★★★★★

The scent unfolds beautifully—that lavender and thyme opening settles into something warm and woody that lasts through the whole shave. It takes about thirty seconds of loading to get a thick, cushioning lather that never dries out on my face.
